SENT VIA THE STLFILMWIRE:
I’m looking for video editors who would be interested in being part of a crew that documents a canoe trip down the Mississippi river. For students it could be a unique chance to build upon your portfolio. Or if you’ve got editing experience you might enjoy this adventurous project. Here are the details:
Video Log of Life Along the Mississippi River
Objective: To create a series of 30 minute long videos for broadcast on community television and available for free download on our website based on footage taken during a three month canoe trip down the entire length of the Mississippi river.
Time frame: Mid-August to mid-November, 2008
Further Details: This is an opportunity to be a part of a unique video experience. I plan on traveling the entire length of the Mississippi river and inviting people along the way to show me their towns and share their lives while recording it on video camera. It will be a gritty chance to record the fun and hardships of an environmentally green, no impact 2,200 mile trip down the entire country. I hope to record the changes in the river, landscape and social culture. At a minimum I would like to assemble a small group of people who would enjoy editing the footage that I send back into half hour segments to be broadcast on community television and downloaded via our website.
However, team members would also be welcome to join for part of the trip or meet along the way to help record the towns and people. It promises to be a fun experience and a chance to record for posterity the river at this period of time. It would also allow viewers who for various reasons could or
would never take this trip, experience it. The videos would be available free of charge to whoever would care to view them.
