KC Jubilee Film Festival Winners Announced

The 12th annual KC Jubilee Film Festival completed its celebration of independent film on Sunday, April 20th with its Media Professionals Insurance Awards Gala at the newly restored Drum Room at the President Hotel.

Indie Pioneer Award – Peter Broderick, President of Paradigm Consulting, which helps filmmakers and media companies develop strategies to maximize distribution, audiences, and revenues.

Outstanding Service Award to the KC Film Community – Heather Laird, Wright-Laird Casting,

    Heartland Division

Best Documentary – Linda Haskins, Henry D. Remple: Finding Hope in Troubled Times
Best Experimental – Caitlin Horsmon, Themes & Variations for the Naked Eye
Narrative - Honorable Mention –Jeffrey Nicholson, The Drifter
Best Narrative – Rosie Percival, Orbits
Student Honorable Mention – Franco Leng, Grandpa, I Have a Question
Best Student - Brad Bosley, The Lutheran
Best Feature – Chad Freidrichs, First Impersonator

    US/International Division

Best Documentary – Lucian Muntean, Punam
Honorable mention Doc – Mike Wolff, Life is Marbelous (featured KC’s Marble Lady)
Best Experimental – Caitlin Horsmon, Themes & Variations for the Naked Eye
Best Narrative – Kartik Singh, Saving Mom & Dad (native to KC, now in Paris, family still in KC)
Best Animation – Jay White, Boar Attack

Best Jazz Short – Brad Jayne, Song of Pumpkin Brown
Short Jazz Honorable Mention - Frank Fitzpatrick, Jungle Jazz: Public Enemy #1
Short Jazz Honorable Mention – Adam Brumback, 18th & Vine (KC area High School student)
Best Jazz Feature – Penny Peyser & Doug McIntyre, Trying to Get Good-The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon

Note that above listed Winners now become part of the permanent collection of the Mutual Musicians Foundation and American Jazz Museum

Best of Fest Short Film - Brad Bosley, The Lutheran – WINNER of $5000 Cash Prize

Jurors:
Susan Petersen, VP of Global Sales for Shorts International
Meaghan Brander, Programming Coordinator, Toronto International Film Festival Group
Chel White, three time Jubilee winning filmmaker of short animation and experimental films

Ms. Petersen is seeking to acquire at least ten of the short films in competition this year.
