SENT VIA THE STLFILMWIRE:
Stephens Summer Film Institute
May 14-25, 2008
Stephens College campus in Columbia, Mo.
The 12-day hands-on, intensive workshop will give female filmmakers of all ages the opportunity to learn about the various aspects of filmmaking such as directing, cinematography, lighting, sound, script, and the producer’s unit. Students work alongside industry professionals to create several short-format film projects that ultimately will be screened in theatres and at festivals.
Each summer, SFI brings in professional filmmakers to train students in hands-on filmmaking and speak about the nature of working in the film business. Students rotate through each position on a film set and learn valuable technical skills that prepare them for work in the film industry while creating three film projects from beginning to end. A network of professional filmmakers helps guide students in their future careers.
Space is limited so interested filmmakers are encouraged to apply early.
